The Breath Alcohol Technician Web Training Courses (New & Refresher) are DOT-approved and considered the standard in the industry.
In order to become a certified BAT for DOT Testing, Hands-On EBT Proficiency Training must be completed separately following successful completion of the BAT Web Course within 30 days.
Hands-On Training can be easily coordinated by SAPAA’s BAT Web Training Course Provider (more information below.)
The BAT Web Course takes New BATs approximately 4-6 hours to complete, and BAT Refreshers about 3-4 hours. The BAT Course includes:
- Videoclip Scenarios of typical BAT testing situations such as:
- DOT Screening (Negative)
- DOT Screening and Confirmation Tests (Positive)
- Insufficient Breath Sample
- Refusal to Test
- Printable Documents including:
- DOT BAT Student Manual
- Hands-On Proficiency Sheet
- 49 CFR Part 40
- On Line Final Exam with automatic email to SAPAA and your Training Administrator with results of the Exam (85% passing score required. 3 attempts maximum.)
- Printable Certificate valid for 5 Years

Your Web Training Password and log-on instructions will be sent to you within 1 business day.
IMPORTANT: We suggest calling APS at the time of ordering the BAT Web Course to ensure all the training requirements will be met, and to arrange for hands-on training if needed. DOT requires completion of both the BAT Web and Hands-On Proficiency Training within 30 days.
